Our cucumbers are grown in greenhouses in Vendée, Loire-Atlantique and Brittany.

During Antiquity, Greeks and Romans also greatly appreciated cucumbers, despite their strong bitterness. Pliny even reports that the Emperor Tiberius feasted on it daily, and that gardeners grew it under a bell jar to accelerate its growth. In France, we find official mention of its presence as early as the 9th century, when Charlemagne ordered its cultivation in its domains. In the 17th century, Louis XIV was also very fond of it. To serve it as a “primeur”, La Quintinie, the head gardener of Versailles, will then develop production in greenhouses. Today, cucumbers are mainly grown in this way!
